The History of‎ FASHION WEEK
A fashion week consists of a week of organized events of multiple designer's collections. Before this organized event was recognized in New York City, fashion showings were being held in Paris as early as the 1700s. Some earlier showings were presented on mannequins which were only shown to the clients who were purchasing items.

In the 1800s, showings began to change. Charles Frederick Worth, noted for haute couture, began showing multiple pieces together and of a higher design. These designs were showcased to get the customer's attention in buying the pieces.
Jeanne Paquin is the first designer to make her showings public and Paul Poiret is the first to host parties after his events

Organised by the British Fashion Council (BFC) for the London Development Agency, London Fashion Week first took place in October 1983. Following increasing numbers of anti-fur protesters, the London Fashion Week held in September 2018 was the first major fashion week to be fur-free. In its early days, West London was the area of choice for London Fashion Week, with the first edition held in the car park of the Commonwealth Institute in Kensington.

It wasn’t long before royalty was embracing the city’s growing fashion scene. Despite much of the clothing being heavily influenced by London’s rave scene and subversive youth subcultures, Princess Diana threw open the doors of Lancaster House to host a reception for British designers in 1985 and was often seen sporting their wares.
